Explore a leafy slice of Liverpool
Much as I love Manchester, we’re lucky enough to have another fantastic city on our doorstep, just 45 mins away across the M62. And while most ‘day trippers’ to Liverpool head for The Albert Dock and Liver Building – the city has many more great places to explore.
Pop L17 1AF into your Sat Nav and head to Sefton Park! There you’ll find a lovely green space, with a lake, people having BBQ’s and the most beautiful Palm House.
This weekend it was glorious with magnolia and azalea flowers.
Once you’ve worked up an appetite exploring the park, you can head to Lark Lane, packed full of quirky bars, restaurants and vintage shops. We had the best Moroccan tapas I’ve had outside of Marrakesh in Arabesque Bazaar and Bistro and spent far too long browsing in Larks.
Larks is described as:
An old fashioned gift emporium – the perfect balance of cutting edge contemporary and vintage chic. You will find gifts, jewellery, accessories, homeware & very special one-off vintage treasures.
Last week whilst minding my own business, someone leaned over and asked whether anyone had ever told me that I looked just like Kirsty Allsopp!?! Yes they have – along with Monica Lewinsky and Charlotte Church! None of which I believe to be the case, but I’m very flattered by two of them.
It seems I’m destined to follow in Kirsty’s footsteps – she’d beaten me to it with Larks proudly displaying a photo of her visiting their shop.
So the next time you’ve got a free afternoon and fancy traversing the M62, explore Sefton Park and then take a leisurely stroll up Lark Lane. It’s a lovely way to spend the day.
